First Rant - Mediocrity

I start the 'real' posts with a question. How many times in your life have you accepted mediocrity? I have to admit I am guilty of this throughout my whole life. The reason this comes up is because my friend recently complained at a restaurant. The food was bad and burnt and the service was terrible. Everyone else was there and thought the same as him. However, he was the only one to complain.

After he complained everybody discussed how uncomfortable it was and how we would never do what he did. I ask the question why? I'm not sure if it is an Australian thing but when I look back at all the times mediocrity is accepted in the community I wonder why. I look back and think how many times have a got the wrong order at a fast food place or gotten the wrong change or been waiting in line for hours. I like the majority of people in Australia just accept it and move on. This is so wrong. How did the world end up like this. One of my friends said that Mediocrity is actively celebrated in Australia, where it seems, that nobody ever really gives 100%.

When I think about it, since I was young it was always 'cool' or in style to say I did this, or got this result with the least effort possible. When you did work hard and achieve a result you still tried to underscore the value of the work by saying you had not done much.

The only way to fix this pandemic is to start complaining and demand better service, not just from other people but yourself. I leave you with this question, How many times have things been too hard for you to give 100% so you just dial it in?
